This is called pragmatism. This is how you get things done. For example coburn totally is in agreement on the issue of transparency with Obama. Why not use this to pass a bill on this issue? well, that is what exactly he did. they proposed an ethics bill together. Now if he came out namecalling, this bill was never being offered. Instead of playing cat and dog, he has been practical without losing his principles.

Ok Don, I’ll defend Obama.

By saying that he’ll reach out to conservative senators he is not “capitulating and appeasing”, but working with people who are his colleagues. If anyone has a problem with Senator Coburn I believe that they should take up their issues with the good citizens of Oklahoma who elected him.

In any case the hateful ideology that says that an individual will not work with someone who does not pass an ideological litmus test sounds all too familiar and doesn’t seem to be the way to progress.

Also, FYI, Obama worked with Couburn to pass legislation on federal funding accountability and pork reform. Does anyone on this board honestly disagree with such legislation? Should Obama have stubbornly gone against valuable legislation in order to punish a senator that he disagrees with? Is that pragmatic, logical, or helpful to anyone?

Murdoch held ONE fundraiser for Clinton’s SENATE campaign. Why? Because she is the Senator from NY which is where FOX News is. Duh?

But Murdoch’s News Corp. showered Howard Dean with $20,000 for his presidential campaign in 2004.

Makes the rest of your post pretty irrelevant.

You forget while Hillary whines about the right wing machine she goes skipping around with Murdoch and lets him host fundraisers for her along with a guest list made up the Fox attack machine themselves. oh, boo hoo. They are out to get her. pluuuuueeeze
I think you are too focused on boogeymen and not reality. The so called attack machine is not functioning at full capacity these days as they are busy partying with the Clintons.
And, if you are paranoid about it, rather than courageous and not let it drive your thinking and actions, and show you are tougher and not afraid, you can defang them.
Senator Obama has shown time and again that if you attack he will hit back - hard.
From John Howard to Hillary clinton, the past 6 months has shown someone not afraid. He decided to squeeze Fox out of being able to have access when they were on trying to make him out to be a muslim terrorist back in Jan and Feb. Fox backed down first. Aiies called several times begging to be let back in.
Instead of dwelling on the big bad wolf like Hillary does, Obama boldly goes forward and anyone want to go after him will feel his foot on their ass. he does not dwell and obsess, he just won’t let them have the upper hand and goes about his business.
So, who is the twilight zone? Hillary thinking she is still back in the 90s with her paranoid screeching about attacks or obama, who hit them back where it hurts and strides forward without letting them scare him.

Does the writer being a Clinton supporter (or, in nutroot temninology “apologist”) in anyway alter the facts of the piece?

Is Obama downplaying the swiftboating of John Kerry, Max Cleland, Dukakis, the Clintons? Yes. No big deal, not worth getting worked up over, he says.

Is Obama promising to do the very thing progressives have whined about for the last seven years? Yes, he is.

The fact that Hillary is hated vehemently by republicans is nothing to brag about!!!

Supposing she did manage to get past the repubs, independants, and DEMOCRATS WHO HATE HER during the general electionn-

How in the heck could she possibly get anything done -EVER- as president?
Filibuster, anyone…..? The “attack machine” wouldn’t stop after she got elected.

That woman has to be able to work with the republicans. She does not have what it takes to be prez.

And not incidentally, if she were in office, what makes anyone think “the vast right wing conspiracy” would stop then?

This writer is not only stupid but a Hillary apologist.
By this time in 2004, John Kerry was still polling third in national as well as several states, yet he won the nomination.

Wake up from sleep and imagine that even John Edwards might end up winning the nomination.

This nomination is a toss in the air. And team Hillary cannot keep boasting of their inevitability; not with all those recent gaffes, flip-flopping, and fear-mongering.
Hillary just proved to the world that she is really a Bush-Cheney Lite.
