Apparently there’s no “right to be a pig” in Austria: A business owner decided to take down urinals shaped like women’s mouths after protests and considerations of legal action by the Vienna Department of Women’s Affairs.

Of course, there is no meaningful speech taking place here, though America’s First Amendment would probably cover such an offensive display. (Okay, I laughed when I read about it. Hard.)

There are a few interesting details in the story. For example, the urinals have been in place for three years with no complaint, and no man is on the record as being offended. The latter is important because the urinals are in, you know, the men’s restroom. Apparently women are mad at the sheer existence of the toilets, not at any effect the latrines could have on their lives.

I wonder what company makes these things. Whatever it is, it’s bound to see increases in protests and sales thanks to the publicity.
