I live in South Africa and when I hear stories of the abuse in my country my heart bleeds. I don't understand how relatives and family members can violate our children like this. I feel our law is sometime not strict enough although I am a law student myself. I do belief that people have the right to be presumed innocent but on the other hand the lives of children are being destroyed.

I however belief that if everyone in our communities start caring about each other and start to take action the situation can improve.

I'm from California. I watched the 'sexual liberation' go through the sixties like a dose of salts, and here 40 years later the mess is going after the softest possible target. I'm reading news spots about people - parents!- going after literal infants. Or standing just out of reach while someone else indulges a filthy appetite.

I'm extremely fortunate in that after my parents divorced, an uncle took an extended leave from the service to teach me how to defend the three of us left, with the full awareness of the possibility that less than no help could be expected from anyone else. In a lot of ways I can entirely relate, especially with the sibling families who no longer have to worry about a parent with a perhaps measuring and expectant eye.

I think a new type of 'village' or social structure is going to have to emerge, perhaps trust lands staffed by a sort of conservation corp, and just the idea of that is sort of horrible. What else is there?
