Zuzana is dead on with this one! A careful perusal of the extant data on big cat incidents shows that her conclusions are indeed correct. In fact, analysises like hers have caused most AR sites to pull their statistical report off the site-- it undermines their cause!

These rules are so extreme that you cannot even take your cat over State lines to have it treated by a specialty vet. Thus, it is apparently better to the framers of these rulkes that your lion suffers or dies than that it should be allowed to receive the proper vet care it might need.

If you take the time to read the Federal Register posting, you will see that a lot of their comments were in response to my extensive comments filed against these rules back in 2006. You will also see that my statistics agree very well with Zuzana's. My statistics also show that even serious injuries are quite uncommon, and that most injuries and deaths are among zookeepers, animal trainers, etc. The so-called 'pet owners' actually have the best safety record of all the various cat-owning groups. You can read these comments here. (A PDF reader is needed.)

The big cats are too precious to wipe out with terrible laws like this! Its time we stood up for sanity and common sense!
