If you value any type of freedom, there are lessons throughout history, including a large number in recent history that show the way to go. What has happened to freedom of religion when a government has instituted a state-run or state-sponsored religion? What has happened to freedom of speed and freedom of the press when governments have instituted state-run or state-funded media organizations? What has happened to academic freedom when governments have instituted state-run and state-funded schools? If you want real freedom in any arena, you must first get the government out of the picture to a real degree. Those who demand that government "do something" about a problem guarantee that any freedom remaining in that area exists only at the discretion of their government. Ed,
