On Thursday, Jim Bob, 42, and Michelle Duggar, 40, gave birth to their 17th child. Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas by VBAC, or vaginal birth after Caesarean. Michelle Duggar began feeling contractions Wednesday night and went to the hospital at 5 a.m. on Thursday. Within 30 minutes, little Jennifer was born. She weighed 8 pound, 8 ounces, was five days late, and is the Duggars seventh daughter. Even a half hour after the birth of baby Jennifer, the Duggars are talking about having more, especially girls.

The Duggars live in Tontitown, Arkinsas in a 7,000 square foot home that they built themselves. All of the children’s names begin with the letter “J” and all are, or will be, home schooled. They include Joshua, 19; John David, 17; Janna, 17; Jill, 16; Jessa, 14; Jinger, 13; Joseph, 12; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 9; Jedidiah, 8; Jeremiah, 8; Jason 7; James 6; Justin, 4; Jackson, 3; Johannah, almost 2. There are two sets of twins in the family, and the boys outnumber the girls 10 to 7. Joshua, Janna, Jill, and Jessa were the first of the siblings to see their new baby sister. The rest of them visited later in the day.

The family have been featured on several programs on the Discovery Health Network. The Duggar Family Album special is set to air on the channel next month. Despite her tremendous number of births, Michelle Duggar does not hold the record for most number of children. That record belongs to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyey who gave birth to 69 children between 1725-1765. The woman was a peaant from Shuya outside of Moscow. She was pregnant 27 times and give birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of tripets, and four sets of quadruplets.

Michelle has been pregnant for 126 months or 10.5 years of her life. She has given birth at an average of every 18 months. The family has changed approximately 90,000 diapers and do about 200 loads of laundry each month. The children have assigned chores to help keep the household running smoothly and have even contributed to building their new house to accommodate them all. Every child learns to play the violin and piano. They are able to feed the entire family for less than $2,000 per month and are debt free.
