News Item:
TV station lands questionable call letters

A new television station in Hawaii has been assigned a set of call letters that are… uhm… well… ah hell, here are the letters, you decide.  It’s station KUNT.  No joke.

Once upon a time, there was a real live human being at the FCC who would handle the assignment of call letters to tv and radio stations, but no more.  Today everything is automated.  Call letters are actually applied for and assigned through a website.  You tell the website you have a license for a new station, and the site assigns you new letters.  Quick, easy, done, but apparently not foolproof.

As luck would have it, the owner of the station in Hawaii is also building a new tv station in Arizona, and the computer assigned that station the call letters KWTF, WTF being computer slang for What The F$%k.  Honest… I swear… we kid you not.
