But is he suggesting we invade Pakistan? Because that's what it would take to get Alqaeda and the Taliban, who regrouped when Musharraf, instead of pressing a reluctant army to wipe them out, gave them an amnesty...and they regrouped. Well, silly me. They didn't keep their word...duh.

And if the US got "out of Iraq" it would be read as a victory for Al qaeda in the same way it was read as a victory for communism when the US got out of Viet Nam. There were no easy answers when the US went in (it was the least bad of several worse scenerios) and there are no easy answers to get out. But right now Iraq is a proxy fight between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and remove the US and watch how quickly the Saudis get nukes.

If Bush is a lousy leader, it doesn't mean he didn't do the right thing. But then I'm old enough to remember Harry Truman...who was a similar lousy leader who did the right thing.</description>
