In yet another instance of school violence in the country, a 15 year old high school boy has been confirmed to be murdered at a bus stop on school grounds earlier today. The boy was a student at University High School in Orlando, FL and earlier in the day had gotten into an argument with a 17 year old student at the school. The argument continued all day until they were released at 2:14pm. The fight escalated to the bus stop when it became physical and the 17 year old produced a pocket knife and stabbed the victim at least once in the chest killing him. Neither the older student nor the victim was publicly identified by police but the older boy was apprehended after he ran under a bus and tried to change his clothing.
In a statement to the press, Carlos Padilla, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, released the facts and said of the suspect, “I imagine he’ll probably be looking at a murder charge,”
The school district’s superintendent said that the school has no metal detectors and Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said “Pocket knives do not belong on school campus. It’s hard to prevent, but you do the best you can.”
