I want to first introduce myself. My name is Maggie and I am a teacher in public schools. I decided to join this blog because I have views about education that I have long wanted to share. When I impose them on my friends, they are polite, but not everyone cares that much. Maybe they do care but just don’t lose sleep over things the way I do.
I hope this blog will allow me more peaceful nights of blissful rest. I have some things to say about education and how it affects each person individually.
Yesterday afternoon I listened to Senator Obama on the Oprah Winfrey show. One of the things he talked about was the family value of being able support one’s family. This is a value I hold dear as an educator and as a bread winner. And I think our education system can be designed with this value in mind.
For today, I’ll suggest that we look closely at trade education at the high school level.
Another area I intend to write about is the earning ability for those people whose IQ falls in the range of 60 to 90. It is safe to say that doctor, lawyer, politition, ect. may not be attainable for these folks. Do we really believe that they have less of a right to earn a living wage? Is our education system focused on their strengths?
Thank you for your time and attention.
