its not fair what everybody is saying about "illegals". its like saying that all americans are fat, and french people hate americans. i came here almost 5 years ago and tried to extend my visa but they wouldnt do it. i had a choice of either going home with my baby, leaving the people i love more than anything in the world or stay illegally. i stayed, for more than 4 years i've been taking care of my daughter, and 3 stepchildren including an autistic boy and a girl with hearing loss. Their mother -an alcoholic with bipolar disorder, made sure that nothing was easy. and let me assure you, i met their dad after they were already separated. i'm 29 years old, left behind me my career, my family, my friends. i'm staying home, cant drive, cant do anything. i cant even take the kids to the doctor. with 106 temperature outside we cant even go for a walk.
One day you try getting four children in one year, have your whole family and friends be upset with you, have your lovedones exwife come and live with you for 3 months, be homeless, loose 20 pounds in one month because you dont have money to buy food and you have to feed the children, knowing that you are healthy and strong and you could work but.. you cant. one day you feel as helpless as i did the last 4 years and tell me it is so easy to be an illegal. and then listen to people around calling you names, calling you a criminal!
the country of freedom, they used to call united states. for me its a country where i lost my freedom. and dont tell me i dont have to live here. for the sake of the children i cant take them that far away from their mother even if she is mentally sick, she is still their mother.
it was my choice, i dont regret anything. i just wish you people see people in us criminals - illegals.

The problem is that there are millions upon millions of people around the world in the same situation as Ms. Timoteo describes. Americans of all backgrounds, European, Asian, African, Indo-America, all have family and friends they want to come to the USA. If we opened the doors, 10 million would be here tomorrow, and 10 million the day after. Why should those committing a crime, get any preference?

We as Americans have the right to manage our country, decide what is best for our existing citizens, and protect our very successful and dynamic culture. Those that do it legally should be allowed in. Those that do not do it illegally should be deported. It is a question of fairness and of respect for the law.

One of the reasons the USA is the greatest country in the world is that as a people we believe strongly in and follow the rule of law, and we expect our fellow citizens to do the same. Illegal immigrants are demonstrating that they do not agree, and will not abide by, this most fundamental basis of American culture.

It is not only the ignorning our rules on immigration, it is also falsifying ID documents, identity theft, working without paying taxes, taking benefits such as schooling and medical care without paying into the sytem. Americans consider these acts to be criminal. To add insult to injury, it has been calculated a a fair percentage of the illegals are felons, gang members and other standard criminals and they are responsible for a disportionate number of the crimes and murders in the USA. On top of that, after the last amnesty in 1986, five years later, the majority of those who stayed had not bothered to learn English.

Do I blame the very poor for trying to get ahead, and illegally coming to America to do it? No. If I was in their situation, I would want to do the same thing. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. Illegal immigrants are doing it the wrong way.

And there are major consequences for Americans with the arrival of the illegal immigrants; problems with school overcrowding and curriculum, hositpals going bankruptcy because illegals don't pay, drivers without licenses or insurance, disease ( my son picked up TB from illegals at his school per the local health authority), and of course national security at our borders.

There is also the question of why this situation has been allowed to exist. Big business wants cheap labor. Not labor, cheap labor. What this is really is a bill to Put Americans Out of Work Act. But it appear Americans have seen through the politicans scam, and are putting a stop to it. It is about time.

i just wish people would get along with the immigrantion. People come to our country to get a better life. For example, I have a friend that had some issues about the women in mexico, they get hit for stupted reason. Also mexican come here to have a better life. Yes the do take job away for americans, but there are really good works and do the crapy jobs that american don't like. Some of the mexicans pay for taxes. Why can't we have a law were people that pay taxes and do a good job and speak english as a second language stay in the unitedstate. people are just angry.
