Scelata said: 'Save the Liturgy, Save the World!.' Well, I'm beginning to believe that a spiritual solution could be the answer to our troubled planet. Politicians and other smart leaders failed to find solutions to the threats that could bring this world into extinction. Lets try prayer as a strategy for peace and survival. If you're a Catholic, you can pray reverently and properly in your liturgy. Christians should realize that sins like abortion are courting disaster. The world is calling the fires of Sodom and Gomorah to rain on earth. Lets start praying in groups NOW

Garry, YOU need to "spearhead" it if you want it.
Drum up support, discuss it with your friends, offer to instruct servers, find out where to get missals for people who don't know it and don't have them.

hjmn, you do know that we have a 3 year lectionary cycle, right? and that the translation of them chnaged a few years ago? and that it is still only "provisional?" and that a new translation of the Ordo itself will be coming out in a few years?

It would be MORE wasteful, WORSE stewardhip to buy permanent hardbound missals, considering the present situation.

Also, unlike most denominations, in most countries, Catholics in the US don't have one national hymnal, and the major publishers of liturgical music are all in the habit of continually trying to sell new music (much of which doesn't even respect the integrity of the text of the Mass, a shameful situation, in my opinion,) so they aren't going to get on board any time soon with a standardized hymnal with a stable repertoire (music is the main excuse for the constantly new and disposable missallettes.)

Bring back the old missal. That's a good idea. By the way, we wish to experience the Tridentine Mass but nobody in our diocese seems to be spearheading it. We will just wait for final annoucement from Vatican.
