TAMPA HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL – CRACK AND NOW JAIL.
The former principal of Van Buren Middle School, Anthony Giancola, was sentenced to a year in jail and 3 years probation for pleading guilty to a charge of trying buying $20.00 worth of crack cocaine from an undercover agent this past February. OK…this sounds bad – but it gets worse. Giancola was in his office during the time at the Tampa high school, not on some shady street corner.
Giancola stated that his problem with his $300.00 to $400.00 a day crack habit began late last year and stemmed from marital problems. After arranging to meet with undercover agents, Giancola actually wanted to smoke it in his office upon his $20.00 purchase, just before he attended a meeting. Unfortunately, he was arrested just before he could get his crack pipe warmed up.
We all suffer from our own demons, but for a high school principal to smoke crack while on school grounds sounds a little over the top. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “smoking in the boy room”. Plus, how does one support a $300.00 to $400.00 a day habit? Hell, it takes me 12 hours a day at the office just to get by! When you consider how many people are addicted to a drug such as this, its no wonder crime continues to plague us all. That’s a lot of money, and sooner or later, we all stand a good chance of becoming the next victim.
One can only imagine how many kids may have been corrupted by his habit while being under his supervision. I only hope that once he’s released, he obtains nowhere near the authority or position that he once held.
