It is not known what long-term affects the drugs will have on children, while some children have died after being put on the medications, while others suffer from cardiac and other problems. One thing that concerns me about these drugs is that the child doesn't have much of an appetite and can lose weight or not gain appropriately. If a child is on these drugs for years, couldn't it be possible for them to be malnourished? If a growing brain doesn't get what it needs, can't that impair attention? If so, would the drugs be given more frequently or in increasingly larger doses? What about growing bones that don't get the right nutrition?
