SOCCER TOURNAMENT

New York Victory Trophy-won all three matches played against Pennysylavania 1-0,maryland 2-1 and Washington DC 1-0 in the finals.Lamin Ceesay scored the goal for the finals,Abbas Jallow,Captain Saikou Demba and Ousman Gaye scored in previous matches.Much credit goes to the New York goal keeper who was crowned MVP.It was a very tense and eventful competittion.
Miss Gambia competition friday night Fatoumata Touray crowned new Miss Gambia from Amie Dibba whose tour ended.Sunday night was the eventful day with finals soccer where D.C losed to New York,also a night party where the trophies were presented.D.C got the runners up trophy three years in a row and the leading goal scorer.In the presentation Pa Samba Jow ‘coach deplored the unruly behavior of a Gambian the previous night;A gambian boy sprayed a peeper spray on a fellow Gambian causing actual bodily harm to him during the Saturday night party.This made the Police to shut down the party at the disgust of all the attendees.Mr Jow thanked newyork for a brilliant performance and wich them more victories.
Speaking to our reporter;Dauda Banda,coach of the New York Team said his team was affected by lack of some key players to show up but none the less the ones who shpwed up played great and showed well;He said this is the fourth trophy that New York has gotten;they are the Champions and the runners up of African Soceer tournament 2005 and 2006 respectively in New York,Runners up in Atlanta 2006 .He thanked the support of the Gambian Youths Organization in New York for forming,supporting and maintaining the team.It is a victory for the GYO,he concluded.
Highlights of the party included a brilliant perforamance by the Amie Dibba,the poutgone Miss Gambia.The weekend was very interesting and eventful,less the brow at the saturday party.
