Mr. Martinez now replaces Anthony Hey who was embroiled in a financial wrangle with the Gambia Football Association over salary and other benefits.

Mr. Martinez is now tasked with the responsibility of guiding the scorpions in their bid to qualify for the African Nations Cup finals in Ghana come January of next year.Meanwhile, the scorpions would be travelling to Guinea Conakry on 3 June 2007, for a return leg after losing 2-0 to the Cyli Nationale in Banjul.
