Dakar

Following an editorial ran by the Banjul based Daily Observer Newspaper that Colonel Ndure Cham, Sana Sabally, Kalipha Bajinka  and Ebrima Manneh had a private meeting with the Senegalese Interior Minister, in a bid to strategize their alleged plans to wage an arm resurrection against the Jammeh administration, a source close to Colonel Sarr has denied the involvement of the Senegalese government in any future operations to be spearheaded by the people mentioned above. The source who earlier emailed the Freedom Newspaper accuses the Gambian government of living in constant fear and anxiety following Bissau’s move to release Sheriffba Jobe and other combatants earlier arrested in Guinea Bissau. According to our source who had been in constant touch with Ndure Cham, the Senegalese government was equally shocked and devastated by the Daily Observer’s “misleading and wild” accusations against the Wade administration. “All what they are interested is to have Colonel Sarr, Sabally, Manneh, Jobe and others handed over to them so that they can be executed? All what the Observer reported were mere lies and figment of their own  imagination. The Senegalese government is currently investigating the Observer story, which was published out of malice and hatred against  these gallant officers. Our source said Sheriffba Jobe and others were released by the Bissau government following an intervention by the United Nations Refugee office and are currently in Dakar. Sheriffba Jobe used to be one of the right hands of  Charles Taylor. He was alleged to have played a crucial role in spearheading Taylor’s rebellion against the then Liberian administration led by Samuel Doe. Mr.Jobe is a brother to the jailed Jarra West former MP and Majority leader Baba K Jobe who was indicted by the UN for gun running and the sale of “Blood Diamonds” in the West African sub-region. Our source said Jobe and others were working with Kukoi Samba Sanyang who ended abandoning them. Mr.Sanyang who according to sources was never arrested and had been freely traveling across the continent. Our source who would  not give the exact location of Kukoi said he was glad that the detainees had regained their freedom.” All these allegations against Senegal were  prompted by the release  of Sheriffba Jobe and others. We know what their objectives are. It’s hypocritical for the Gambian government to blackmail Senegal because of the release of these individuals. Jobe and his men are safe and well.” said our source.

According to our source, the Jammeh government was unhappy about Dakar’s move to provide sanctuary for the ex army officers whose presence was increasingly worrying them. The source describes the action taken by the Gambian government to accuse Colonel Sarr and co as a counter intelligence move to alert local security officials on the ground. Our source was very angry by what the Observer reported. He said the government of the day should stop provoking Dakar.

Our source confirmed the presence of Cham, Bajinka, Sabally, Manneh,  Sheriffba Jobe and others in Dakar, but was quick to add that what the Daily Observer reported was completely erroneous and misleading. “ Kukoi is wise and he knows how to operate. His men are back in Senegal.” said the source. When asked what he meant by saying that Kukoi was wise, the source said what was reported about Kukoi and what actually happened was completely different. He however would not reveal certain information due to security reasons. He confirmed that Kukoi was alive and kicking.

In a separate developments reports reaching this paper suggested about a high presence of undercover NIA operatives  in Dakar to monitor the activities of the Gambian dissidents suspected of subversive activities against the Jammeh government. About 5o NIA agents are currently scattered in Dakar and its surrounding to closely monitor the activities of these men. A Presidential budget of D3Million dalasis has been allocated for the said operation, which is being conducted clandestinely in a foreign land. Dakar is not aware of the presence of the NIA officers in their soil, but a dependable source hinted that the President Yahya Jammeh was personally funding the said surveillance operation directed at the Gambian dissidents.

The move taken by the Gambian leader to dispatch his intelligence officials in Dakar came amid reports of a possible armed attack against his administration by troops allegedly to be led by Colonel Ndure Cham, Sana Sabally and others. One Badjie who used to be one of Kukoi’s boys was alleged to have informed  the Gambian government about such plans. Badjie was said to be arguing with Ndure Cham while in Dakar. Sources say Badjie who used to be a commander at the President’s villa in Kanilai is currently residing outside West Africa.

The Gambian Government has been apprehensive about Dakar’s recent move to welcome fleeing soldiers implicated in coup attempts. Dakar’s refusal to hand over these coup suspects never went down well with Jammeh.  The Jammeh government has been trying to sell this story that Dakar was sponsoring dissidents to destabilize  the former British colony. The Wade regime has always rubbishes such allegations.
