I don't necessarily agree with everything that Carter did, but - for example - he had an actual energy policy that really meant something. The National Labs were teaming with activity in alternative energy approaches: geothermal, extracting oil from oil shale, solar energy, etc. Carter was very religious (which I'm not) but he kept religion out of politics and out of the government, which is the way the Constitution was conceived and written. In contrast, the current regime has set the country back - in every conceivable way - about 100 years. Carter is right on! Bush and the Bushies are a total disaster! Foreign policy is only the tip of the iceberg (or disaster). The hundreds of billions of dollars squandered, in and on Iraq, should have been spent in this country addressing the many, many pressing needs, instead of being thrown down the toilet (more correctly to Bush's cronies) in a war that is totally irrelevant to the "war on terror" and flagrantly illegal (Constitutionally).
