In a bid to still bloster its profits, Microsoft Corpn. is cracking down harder than ever on software piracy with a supposedly anti-piracy Vista OS.

MS is planning to disable some key features in Vista for the unllicensed copies. If a legitimate copy is not bought within 30 days, the system will curtail functionality much further by restricting users to just the Web browser for an hour at a time.

However, the experts opine that just like the backlash by XP users on similar moves by MS, Vista tpp would meet the same fate. Moreover, MS competitors in security-software market are also peeved at anticompetitive tactics by MS to shut out third-party security firms from Vista.
