I was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shellman, GA in 1951 and I remember the vote on Reverend Buchanan. My Grandmother, my Father and I voted for his retention. I do not remember any stories about threats to Reverend Buchanan. He was very kind to my family and I never forgot how nice he was to my Grandmother. He was well regarded in the community and its sad that he left under such bad circumstances.
