New Delhi, May 09. 2007: After creating history in maritime education, the promoters of International Maritime Institute are all geared to repeat their success in Computing and Animation education in India with the launch of Integrated Management College (IMC).

IMC will offer for the first time in India, international affiliated courses accredited by EdExcel, UK, in computing and animation at its sprawling campus in Greater Noida. For this purpose, the organisation has tied-up with University of Plymouth, UK for offering pathways leading to B Sc (Honours) degree in Computing and in Digital Arts and Technology. The institute will also offer independent multimedia courses and leading technology certifications.
 
Launching the programs in India, Bhavya Kohli Director of Integrated Management College said the Center of Advanced Computing (COAC) was set-up with the common goal of providing quality skilled manpower for the booming IT industry where there is a severe shortage of employable professionals.

“The Center of Advanced Computing aims to produce the next generation of computer scientists, software engineers and knowledge workers emphasizing innovative and integrated programs, teaching and learning environments in India. The school will create and apply knowledge in computing and informatics through real-world research that transcends traditional academic disciplines. Our programs will prepare graduates to transform the world in which we live,” he said.

Deepak Goyal, head, of COAC said the centre will strive to discover practical uses for theoretical knowledge, and to speed the diffusion of information to one and all. “COAC will focus on fostering both research oriented application, this School will continue to be a catalyst for intellectual, social, and technological change,” he emphasised.

COAC offers a unique “UoP Student Experience,” whereby a student will be able to study for two years in India and have an option of going to the University of Plymouth for the final year of study, for the international certification program. The student is also given the choice to complete the program in India, and will still be awarded a UGC-certified degree.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors of IMC, Capt. Ashok Kohli said about the United Kingdom education initiatives: “We are proud to be associated with UoP for launching the pathway programs. IMC is synonymous with academic quality in the emerging sectors, as we have proven in maritime education. We believe the students, who enrol will take forward India’s success in IT to the computing and animation industry also.”

The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art International Standard Labs. Internet Connectivity, Visiting Faculty from all around the world, On Campus ambience, Team based learning with fellow students in the UK.

By taking the course, a student is exposed to job prospects in the field of computing, namely as Systems Analyst, Software Developers, Project Architects, Networks Specialists and the like. The students can also enter the emerging field of animation as Modellers, Set and Environment artist, Broadcast Engineer, SFX Artists etc.

The dedicated employment cell at COAC provides 100 per cent placement assistance for all of its students, enrolled in both the courses.

COAC also offered pathways to international technology certifications from Microsoft, Novell, CISCO, Brainbench, and Oracle as part of the regular curriculum.
