News Item:
Paris Hilton – My Public Needs Me

Normally, we would think that headline says it all, another celebrity with an over-inflated ego.  Ms Hilton, however, has taken it a step further, by posting a plea to her adoring fans on her MySpace website.  Paris, in case you didn’t know, has been charged with violating her probation, which means, by law, the original sentence for her drunk driving conviction goes into effect.  Paris doesn’t want to go to jail, but then again, who does?  Most people though, can’t reach out to the masses.  Paris Hilton can, and for one very simple reason.  She is special.  Just ask her.

She is asking the public to sign a petition, hoping it will sway Governer Schwarzenegger of California, as she appeals the violation of her violation [or something like that].  Here is a little excerpt designed to pull at your heart strings:

“Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young people all over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives.”

Touching, isn’t it?  Paris Hilton, Beacon of Hope, for all American youth.  An icon for our children to emulate.  A tender rags to riches story, showing what can be accomlished, through diligence and hard work.

What’s that?
No rags?
Just riches?
No hard work?

Oh well, so much for that theory…
