The state IRS is after you if you bought cigarettes on the internet.  They say that collectively there are $10.4 million dollars owed from this discount way of purchasing your smokes.

One person bought over 950 cartons, resulting in almost $15,000 in taxes due.  I hope that bill will be enough to help this person consider stopping smoking.

There is a federal law that requires internet cigarette sales sites to release the names of there customers to the IRS for tax purposes.  These sites put a very fine print disclaimer, but most people purchasing believe that they are getting them tax free.

There is a tax due of $1.35 per pack and an additional 6% of the total sales price. Pennsylvania is being generous though and waiving any penalties for people that sign up for a payment plan.
