Will Sabally apologise?

By Alpha Ebrima Ismaila Chongan, former Deputy IGP

Balang-Ba

Chef de Corps and Binneh Minteh,

You’ve beaten me on this but quintessentially this shows the difference between a refined officer and a little pretentious subaltern. Sana Sabally is an arrogant ignoramus and really insulting the memory of those fine officers who have fallen 11 November 1994.I won’t repeat what you good people had said which is common knowledge, not only Sabally has destroyed and tried but woefully failed to destroy good people who are decent and wants good for the Gambia. Yes I was one of those three officers who were subjected to that trauma of 6 September 1994, an event we have refered to as the night of terror which is well documented. With all this we have maintain our dignity and continue on with our life; for me personally I have forgiven all those who had wronged  me but not necessarily forgotten. Sabally knows that I have forgiven him but I don’t need to go into details because innocent people involve in this have done nothing and I dare challenge him to say anything.

Freedom’s Associate Editor   Sankanu’s piece
Yankuba Jambang                   on Jammeh attracts
reaction!!
In its December 12, 1936 issue, the Daily Times of Nigeria lambasted the British colonial administration on the appointment of Mr. O. Jibowu BCL Oxon as Police Magistrate of Lagos in these words:
“…Oxon as Police Magistrate in Lagos is no more than an experiment…It is astonishing that no African has been found qualified to be on the judicial  staff in the newly constituted protectorate courts.”This ever enduring news publication has been championing the course of freedom and independence for Africa since 1926 and had most times been very critical of  British colonial administration. They never relented nor were they cowed into subjugation and journalistic impotence; this was the time of colonial Africa and the Daily Times and many other African publications defied the odds to defend liberty! This is what journalism is all about; this was what the late Deyda Hydera did; this is what Fatou Jaw Manneh does; this is what we set fort to do at
Freedomnewspaper.com – standing for the truth and nothing else.

Banjul The Gambia: A new Deputy Inspector General of police has been named, the Freedom Newspaper, can reveal. Police Commissioner Modou Gaye has been appointed Deputy IGP with immediate effect. Gaye who used to head the force’s Drug squad unit was a former member of the defunct national Gendarmerie. With a limited knowledge on policing, Gaye has been named as the force’s number two man. In another development, to the surprise of  the men and women of the Gambia police, a former police SGT. Detective  Essa Tamba, widely known as “Jesus” has been promoted as police commissioner. Jesus has been promoted to the rank of  a “crime coordinator” (CMC) The former station officer of Tallinding police post is now third in command of the Gambia police force. Inside the GPF headquarters, shock and disbelief gripped force’s old guard. They say they have long been marginalized by the system. Many believe that the said promotion was not based on merit, but political patronage to the Jammeh leadership.

We shall refuse to be used for Major Bajinka’s lies to settle in the West! Editors tell Seedou Lamin Bajinka!!!
Saturday, May 05, 2007 (257 reads)

Independent’s   MD M’Bai      Editor-in-chief Bah
Alagi Yorro Jallow

SEEDOU LAMIN BAJINKA
MADISON, WISCONSIN USA

Firstly,

I am hereby writing to refute all the statement written by a so-called relative of Bajinka. The story is all lies and fabrication by an individual not connected to our family in whatsoever. Non of my family members or relative has any knowledge about what the writer was talking about.

Infact, there is no iota of truth in the story, because at Bajinka’s residence in mile seven, there are two bedrooms. One shared by his children and the other for him and his wife. So I don’t know where this so-called relative sleep if he/she claimed he/she live next door to Bajinka’s bedroom.

Secondly, if this writer believe he/she has information about the burning of the independent newspaper, I urge him to go and present his evidence to the police as the case is still open. But claiming to be a relative of the Bajinka family and writing unfounded stories you have no knowledge is disgraceful.

Finally, my brother Ex Major Kalifa Bajinka, has no story to tell any press and is not going to entertain any journalist in making unfounded stories on the net. You the journalist have the right to write whatever you feel like but writing stories that doesn’t hold any solid ground shouldn’t be reported.

If anybody have grievances against President Jammeh and his Government, you should face them and put your case to them. But sitting on the computer and write whatever one feels, honestly, doesn’t make you a man. So mr/mrs so-called relative stop falsifying your identity and be man enough and show your true colors. Thanks
…………………………………………………
Editors note: Mr.Banjinka junior, you got it all wrong. This paper had email in its possession regarding your family member, who emailed us to exonerate your senior brother from the Independent arson attack. We went as far as calling the said family member on his Africell number. We spoke for more than half an hour. He later promised to email us his side of the story, which he did. You better think twice before starting a fight you cannot  win. We always researched our stories before going to press. For the safety of your relative, we thought it necessary not to publish his cellular phone number and name. As responsible journalists, we are obliged to protect our sources. He emailed us with his contact number and asked us to call him  should we  need to hear Bajinka’s role on the Independent arson attack. He put a case in defense of Bajinka. We also did our job by contacting Mr.Jallow of the Independent to set the records straight.

To do justice to yourself, your family and  readers please call home and ask your family who among them must have contacted the  Freedom Newspaper. Out of the family someone will confessed to you that he did indeed spoke to us.

As a matterof principle, this paper shall refused to be used by the likes of Major Kalipha Bajinka to secure his Western dream, through his misinformation campaign. We are aware of his desperate moves to lie in a bid to win public sympathy. This medium is a wrong place for such deceivers. Any information volunteered by Bajinka’s family, Bajinka himself or from any other sources would be well researched before putting the story online. This was why we contacted Alagi Yorro Jallow of the Independent for his side of the story. We believe in balanced, accurate and objective reporting. If Bajinka and his family believe that the Freedom Newspaper has undermined his ongoing moves to secure resettlement outside Africa, then so be it. We are duty bound to expose all those who helped Yahya Jammeh to persecute Gambians and friends of the Gambia. Banjinka happened to be one of those persecutors against our people.

All progressive Gambians who love their country at  heart should refused to aid and abet criminals like major Bajinka who had wrecked the fabric of society in the Gambia, in the name of  securing a despot. We refuse to be used today, tomorrow and the future to build a case for Bajinka. Criminals are meant to be exposed and not harboured. We have more damaging information to release in days to come about Major Bajinka. Please stay tuned….Chi Jaama. Peace…   Chi Jaama. Peace…We rest our case!

Minteh takes issue with Sabs

BELOW IS MY RESPONSE TO SANA

A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN HE SHAMELESSLY CAME OUT PAYING TRIBUTE TO A FELLOW VAMPIRE A FEW YEARS AGO. I REMAIN COMMITTED TO THE SAME RESPONSE THAT SANA MUST SHUT UP AND REDEEM HIMSELF TO GAMBIANS. SCHIZOPHERENIC FORMER VICE CHAIRMAN SANA SABALLY: CAN HE BAFFLE DECENT AND PEACE LOVING GAMBIANS.

BINNEH S MINTEH RTD LIEUTENANT

It is apparent to all Gambians and friends of The Gambia, that the former vice-chairman of the unfaithful and inhumane ARMED FORCES PROVISIONAL RULING COUNCIL SANA BAIRO SABALLY has left The Gambia after dancing to his own tune by languishing in a PRISON for nine good years. Today, SANA of all SANA’S is in a sanctuary trapped between distorted perceptions, delusions and a total state of confusion and shamelessness. Fellow Gambians and all friends of the Gambia, we should not the least be intrigue by the false and deceitful nature of how this murderer shamelessly came out to pay tribute to a fellow vampire with a loud cry of love for motherland.

Breaking News:Former Army Chief Samsudeen M Sarr breaks the silence- Sarr says Sana Sabally and late Hydara deserve firing squad!!!
Friday, May 04, 2007 (1316 reads)

Sabally accused of
genocide!!!

“Just as in the past, reading thought Sabally’s latest article, this time paying a tribute to his buddy the late Sadibu Haidara once again drove my emotions on a rollercoaster of disbelief, anger and excruciating resistance to respond. Anyhow I couldn’t bear it this time. I have always asked myself what in the world has Sabally been smoking to be coming here trying to project his image and that of his collaborators as being victims of an evil conspiracy that has ultimately turned them into believable preachers and saints. Punctuating his language with references quoted from various scriptures, particularly from the Quran and Bible doesn’t exonerate him from the terror he had unleashed in The Gambia during the six months he had served as vice chairman of the AFPRC government. And juxtaposing the outrageous crimes he had committed as vice chairman and the punishments he was given by being locked up for nine years was, to me, rather disproportionate in volume and intensity. If justice was served accordingly, Sabally and Haidara’s track record of brutality, irrationality and of course terror in the early days of the AFPRC government should have fittingly sent them straight to a gallows or firing squad. With the guns in their hands as their only advantage over their preys, these predators had arrested, tortured and killed their fellow officers in a way that had defied all human reasoning. Mr. Sabally needs to be constantly reminded that his crimes against his country men that had bordered on genocide in some cases are not just still fresh in our minds but that most of them were documented and filed for possible future reference. When he mentioned being arrested on false charges of treason on January 27, 1995, he certainly couldn’t imagine that I was peeping from my cell room, Confinement Block #2 of the Mile Two Central Prison at the exact minute he and Haidara were herded in on cuffs by their associate in crime Edward Singhateh. ” These were the exact words of  SAMSUDEEN M. SARR, former Deputy Army Commander in Jammeh’s government. Mr.Sarr who broke the silence after many years of keeping low profile has spoken for the first time. The former army chief believes that the former APRC number two man Sana Sabally and his late co convict Sadibou Hydara deserved to be exposed to firing squad, in view of their past crimes against the Gambian populace. Below is Mr.Sarr’s terse letter sent to our news room. Please read on…..

Breaking News:The Big Interview:World Bank’s leading Economist Tijan Sallah Speaks!!

Economist Tijan Sallah

Tijan with Miriam Tlali,
South Africa’s first black
female novelist, Chabi Mphahlele
(son of writer Eskia Mphahlele)
Pix source:Raks
Sekhoa, South African Writer

“It is  hard to make such blanket generalization as the single underlying motivation for the brain drain.  As  I mentioned, some did go back but find their respective countries inhospitable to them to live. They are now working abroad and sending remittances to their families. Ideally, they should have been home, but we do not live in an ideal world. We  have a lot of poor governments in Africa that don’t welcome intellectuals and that abuse human and intellectual rights. The environment is improving as many African countries  become more and more democratic. The Western world has been developing  precisely because it creates an open society for all citizens and especially intellectuals to develop new ideas and technologies to make their economies grow. African societies have not yet fully matured to that level; although I cannot so generalize, as many African societies are changing and becoming more democratic. As a result, they are also making positive strides at economic development.  South Africa is a good model of a democratic open society that attracts intellectuals and rewards and recognizes them.  It is benefiting a lot from talent provided by brain drain from other parts  of Africa.” These were the exact words of  the leading Gambian Economist and poet Tijan Sallah. He was responding to a question regarding African intellectuals, who settled in abroad for “monetary gains” to the detriment of their respective countries. Mr.Sallah  who works with the Washington based World Bank, was speaking in an exclusive interview with Freedom Newspaper’s Pa Nderry M’Bai. In this master piece interview, Mr.Sallah commented about  his poetry life, brain drain in Africa, the global aids pandemic, gender equality, the Virginia shooting incident, which claimed more than 30 lives, among a host of  other issues. Below is full text of the interview. Please read on…..

Editors note:Dr.Tijan Sallah granted us interview under his capacity as a Gambian national and not as World Bank Economist. Thanks for your attention.
