Gambia to provide state burial for death Speaker!

A press release from the Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly says the body of the departed former Speaker of the House would be laid in state at the National Assembly concourse on May 4. According to the release, the body would lie in state at the assembly grounds in line with parliamentary procedures to enable legislators, among others, pay their last respect to the former Speaker. Mrs.Belinda Bidwell passed away peacefully at her residence in Fajara last Saturday. She was reported to have been struck by a light hear attack after concluding plans for her travel to the U.S. She would be laid to rest at Jeshwang cemetery after the ceremonies at the National Assembly and the requiem mass at Holy Family Church in Bakau. The release called on the general public, the media and members of the diplomatic community, who want to attend the programme at the National Assembly, to do so before 10:30am.
