The chief of police in Lamar, SC has been placed on administrative leave after he was caught stealing a golf cart windshield while in uniform. The chief has said that he had no reason for stealing the windshield, which was chained to a pole in a used car lot, valued at $80. The chief, Mike McDonald, turned himself into Darlington County police Tuesday morning charged with petit larceny and misconduct in office and was then released later that day on $1,000 bond. At the bond hearing, McDonald said “I messed up, your honor. It’s embarrassing for my position. I know the news media is here, and they’re going to have a field day with it,”
