Well said, it is easy to sit back over here and nit-pick the actions of our military in Iraq or Afghanistan for hours upon hours, in safety. Our men and women over there have but split seconds to make life or death decisions. I'm sure our elite "congressmen" would prefer to have our troops die due to hesitation rather than risk killing a possibly innocent bystander or shield. I hope our guys and gals continue to err on the side of them staying alive. The insurgents' actions make any travel outside the wire or compound, feel as if you and your vehicles have bullseyes painted on them. Factor that stress into your armchair evaluations Gen Murtha.

To all these "armchair" generals I'd say, get off your dead-ass and go to Iraq and live with our troops, not for a day, but for a few weeks. get the feel of being mortared, fired upon, feel the pucker factor a little while on convoy not knowing if the next vehicle you pass is a VBIED or not, or an IED is waiting just up ahead, live a few days in their boots before you accuse any of our brave military of murder.

As for John Murtha, he's a filthy pathetic excuse of an ex-marine or any branch of the military, he's simply a bad politician now.
