Once again it is time for the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Running until May 6, anyone in the New York area should try to take in some of the scheduled events, and certainly some of the scheduled movies. This annual event has grown from humble roots, and become an important showcase for Foreign, Niche, and Indie movies. This year it features over 150 movies from around the globe, and around an alphabet soup of countries. Argentina offers Born and Bred, and at the other end of the alphabet, the Ukraine has Two in One, even Iraq has an entry Half Moon. If you want to check out the complete list of movies try out the country by country list.
Tribeca has grown over the years, it is now much more than just about movies, and this year they have lots of other activities planned. Being the old scrooge that I am, I picked up on the free stuff, what’s not to love about free?
I am also impressed that Tribeca has decided to try to include some events for the whole family. Often times, Film Festivals are snobby events, attended by Film snobs, at the exclusion of everyone else, this one is different.
So, if you are in the New York area between now and may 6th, I recommend you check out The Tribeca Film Festival.
