There are more than their fair share of gossip blogs reporting that today is the day (Wednesday, April 25 for those of you who are shaking off handovers from your local “Ladies Night”) that Rosie O’ Donnell is officially going to announce she will be leaving The View and will announce it on the show.  Finally, a reason for me to tune back in - the last couple of weeks have been real boring.

Rosie came on board the talk show in September 2006 after the decision was announced in April of that year.  Soon afterward a firestorm erupted over the comments Rosie had made previously regarding another co-host Star Jones, who left the show before Rosie’s debut.  Ratings have been high, in fact the highest rating (3.1 million viewers) the show ever received was on Rosie’s first month.  Since then Ms. O’ Donnell has been constantly in the press for one verbal snafu after another, the most famous being her ongoing feud with equally obnoxious millionaire Donald Trump.

Everyone will know in a couple of hours, however, if Rosie is done with Barbara & the gang and I would expect that she will stay for the end of season 10.

UPDATE:  It’s official – Rosie’s stormy role on the view will end in June as she was unable to agree on a contract with execs at ABC.  “My needs for the future just didn’t dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me,” O’Donnell said in a statement Wednesday.  “This has been an amazing experience,” she said, “and one I wouldn’t have traded for the world.”

I seriously doubt that the reason for her departure had anything to do with contract negotions, but whatever.
