A new study conducted by the international health community has found that as many as 78 million more Asians may be living in poverty due to health expenses. Many Asians do not have health insurance and pay for all their medical expenses out of pocket which the study did not take into consideration. The study found that if these expenses were taken into consideration, up to 78 million more Asians would be living below the poverty line of $1 per head, per day. The study was published in the Lancet medical journal this week.
