By Honey Gillard  IT was Thursday night and celebrity partners Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes decided to grace the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project Benefit Gala with their presence. The high-price event was held at NYC’s Altman Building on W. 18th St.

The program was based on principles developed by the founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard and was co-founded by Mr. Cruise in 2002. It aims to aid the New York police, fire fighters and paramedics who played victim to the world stopping Sept. 11 catastrophe.

Before dinner on the night Cruise introduced the chief intent of the program.

He said: “Nearly six years later, many are still paying a price for their heroic service at the World Trade Centre. This is a profound injustice.”

“This project has demonstrated that recovery is not only possible, but an incontrovertible fact.”

Patrick Bahnken, president of the New York Fire Department union of emergency workers and paramedics, informed the ‘New York Post’ about the night, “He said how grateful he was to everyone for supporting the project.”

“He took time out to speak to every person. It took him an hour to get through the hallway. He was talking to everyone. It was genuine; nothing phoney about it.”

All press were banned from the private dinner.

Tickets for the honourable event were priced at a whopping $6250 each.
