In a story released earlier this week by the Washington Post, it was revealed that out of the 12,000 agents working for the FBI, only 1% have even a basic proficiency in the language of Arabic. That figure works out to about 33 agents that have even limited Arabic skills and out of those 33; none of them are working for agencies or departments that work on investigations of international terrorism. A senior FBI official recently revealed in an official deposition that the FBI does not require any of its agents assigned to the two International Terrorism Operations Sections to know Arabic. Out of the two sections, only four know even elementary Arabic.
