Philadelphia designates itself
as a gay friendly city.
There are new street signs in center city today, with a nice little rainbow design beneath them. The design indicates that the street the sign is on is in a gay friendly neighborhood. San Francisco was the first city to post such signs, followed by Chicago, but why has Philadelphia followed suit? It seems gays and lesbians tend to travel a lot, and spend a whopping $56 billion doing so. If those travelers are lured to Philly, City Hall will pocket a nice chunk of change, and maybe actually do something with it. It will be interesting to see what kind of signs start popping up next.
