I blog in my own and real name.

I guess that’s unique in the not-quite-real world of the Internet, where people habitually use handles, nicknames, aliases. Can’t say I’ve never done it, but I consider the practice cowardly. It also reminds me of the kind of folks who live out in the sticks and want to get letters published under names like A Concerned Citizen.

What are they concerned about? Nothing so important or subversive that it requires the use of an alias. I believe every Internet post done under a real name instead of a pretend name makes the Internet marginally better, brings it closer to reality, to truthfulness, to fearlessness.

Therefore, in this experimental, somewhat “edge” Blogger News Network experiment, I choose to use my own name. Go forth and do likewise, or ask yourself why you feel cowardice must rule the internet.
