Hi! I just read this old news in some American online newspapers and in this blog. I'm from Bolzano, South Tyrol/I and I can assert that this news was in South Tyrolean newspapers before Christmas 2006. However, the song was not 'Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle' but its German version 'Stille Nacht'. The school denied and said that they only left out the world 'Jesus' from the text - but at the end of this planetary controversy (also American, English, German, Austrian, Italian and Canadian newspapers reported the news as you did now) the school allowed the children to sing the all song, Jesus included. And Oltrisarco/Oberau got famous. I agree with the opening comment, though. Greetings from South Tyrol!
