‘Facing the Giants,’ Shot On a Shoestring and a Prayer, Does Miraculously at Box Office

Look to see more and more of this kind of movie-making, as more and more of the potential audience, be they devout or not, or perhaps a tad enamored with good story-telling (eschewing over-reliance on excessive explosions, gun-fire and car chases) get cheesed-off with main-stream Hollywood offerings, and begin bringing a D-I-Y sensibility to the table. Just as interested people went to blogging, or making video shorts, or doing POD publishing as soon as the technology was available, movie making will become something that….well, if not everyone, at least anyone who is interested, creative and particularly driven can have a run at doing.

And there’ll be a market for this kind of independent movie, too… looking at the large chunks of the American audience left un-served, insulted and revolted by the usual fare at the multiplex, the market will be wide open, even if most of them do go straight to DVD.
