Well said Nancy!
It often takes an 'outsider' to see the bigger picture.
As a frequent visitor the Philippines for 15 years and a permanent resident for 7, I could make some uncomfortable criticisms of 'our' culture - but I won't. Simply because 'we pays our money and we makes our choice'. Pinoys head west looking for real money. Westerners head east looking for real values.
All in all, I know where I'd rather be.

I'm an American man (a boomer). I married late in life at the age of 47. Two days ago we celebrated or third wedding anniversary. She is a Filipina who had lived in the Phillipines as a professional woman. She is sweet, feminine, smart. I feel like a very lucky man. We are very happy together. I am discovering that genuine love grows and does not fade. Our marriage is very harmonious. Family IS very important in the Filipina culture. I am now so glad that I waited this long and never married an American woman. I have a great deal of affection and admiration for the Filipina people and culture.

I liked your comparison of modern feminists to Pinays. I'm currently married to a Pinay. After my first failed marriage to a (violent) raging feminist and a 2nd marriage to a woman who probably couldn't spell the word feminist, I looked overseas for a life partner. Many people think of east-Asian women as being submissive, but that's not the case at all. They simply place a high value on their families and show respect to their men (and all elders). Respect is considered submissiveness in this country for some reason. Women in the Philippines are actually far ahead of women in the US professionally. Female doctors and lawyers are commonplace, and even their President is female! All this in a supposedly "patriarchal" 3rd-world country.

Back in feminist and race-baiting PC controlled America, apart from something simple like a pilot medical exam, I'll only go to a white male doctor, because that way I can at least be sure he got where he is through hard work. That doesn't mean he is always good, but at least I know he is not an affirmative action doc.

I'm reminded of an online argument I had that started innocently enough by remarking that Anne Radcliffe was the first modern novelist to write a story (in 1798, as I recall) that gave naturalistic explanations for seemingly supernatural events in a gothic story.
The feminists and liberals raged against the statement even after I provided links and written references. They simply said that no woman could have done that and denied that there were female novelists then (of which there were actually scads).

The truth invalidates feminism, which is why feminists are the ones maintaining the traditions of chivalry and victorianism...

I only hope women read your blog ---

Way to stick up for yourself Nancy. Hard work is admirable and should be defended against ignorant assumptions. I agree that feminists think that women are helpless victims that need to be protected by them, and I am tired of hearing their side of the story and appreciate yours.
