An 18 year old boy, Sean Powell, was shot to death in his car outside the home of the married teacher he had been having an affair with. Local police have arrested the woman’s husband, Eric Mclean, in the shooting.
The tragedy happened in Knoxville, Tennessee where Erin McLean, 30, was completing an internship at West High School where she met Sean Powell. He was as student at the school and soon the two began having an affair that had lasted several months.
Eric and Erin McLean had been married for 11 years and have two children ages 11 and 7. Eric McLean had put his academics on hold to instead provide financially for his family while his wife, Erin, completed her graduate degree in teaching. He was only one semester away from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Eric’s father, Norman McLean, has been quoted as describing his son as a nonviolent, but heavily burdened person, referring to Erin’s relationship with Sean.
Powell’s birth mother, Debra Flynn, describes him as “full of life” and says he had just gotten his driver’s license and his first vehicle from his adoptive parents Scarlett and Jack Powell. Although, Ms. Flynn had given Sean up for adoption many years ago, she had reestablished a relationship with him in recent years. Sean had confided in her that he had been seeing Erin McLean. She had also come across several text messages on her phone from Erin McLean to her son. “These teachers are feasting on our children in school and something has to be done,” Ms. Flynn was quoted as saying. Sean was buried on Thursday where over 150 friends and classmates attended the service.
On the day of the shooting, police received a 911 call from the McLean residence regarding an intruder being on the premises. A few minutes after the initial call, they received a second call from Erin stating that her husband had just shot Sean outside of their home. Eric McLean fled the scene before police arrived. He was arrested the next day while walking a few miles from his home and still carrying the murder weapon. While he is in custody and facing official charges, no charges have been brought against his wife.

What a way to direct attention away from being a killer, its the blame game. This guy now cliams to be the only one in his kids lives, well,, why did he keep the creepy wife around????? He claims he was the mother and father to the kids, now????????????? The kids were in school during the day!!! and he drove around at nite, making tips for pizzas, so, how could he have been there. Cant be in two places at once. Hes looking for smpathy as way to get out of a murder. Sounds like a Mary Winkler!!!!! And, I would like to know one thing, I hear they had their first chid at 18, so whats the legal age of consent in Tenn?? Did he take advantage of his wife.Hes too good to be true. He says he cut his hours down to be with his kids, what man cuts his hours, most men work more to provide for their kids. This guy is a joke. A real goody two shoes. And now hes bashing her. He says she got a phone call at a party they were at. Geee, he was at a party, him,,,, the guy that doesnt do anything. What a load of crap. I bet his family never said a bad word about her till this killing, now they cant shut up.Shes a real piece of work too. These two were a match, not made in heaven, but hell. Dont use the kids to get out of a murder, take whats coming and be a man about pulling the trigger. Rest in peace Mr. Powell, and maybe this will stop teachers from preying on children.
That was stupid on his part, he should have confronted his wife about the relationship, then confronted the teen and told him to stay away. He should have reported the situation to the police and let them deal with it. Now his kids have no father because he is going to jail, and if he was the “Mother” and “Father” to the kids, why did he do something stupid like this and take that away from them?
Sounds like a cover up to me also. He made a stupid decison, now he is going to suffer for it by going to jail and being away from his kids possibly forever…what a dummy.
I predicted the outcome of this case earlier. He wasnt going ot jail for murder. And if anybody should be in jail it should be that slut. Sleeping with students is illegal. Shes a slut. You cant control your wife. And its nuts to say that. She should have not flaunted her relationship by bringing sean around her husband and going on trips with him. And then this kid had the nerve to come on his property then demand for his wife, and then tell him “your kids will be calling me daddy” and “shove that gun up your ass”. The kid didnt ask to die but people have died for less. i feel sorry for people who find themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. This is clearly not that case.
The Kid and the husband equal half of the blame. But the wife has the whole other half of the blame by herself. Shes the one that decided to drag this kid and warp his mind into a relationship. Shes the one who flaunted this kid. And shes the one to blame why Eric never got life in prison because she chose to go on the run with the kids and not to testify. Made it extremely hard for the prosecution to make its case when their star witness didnt testify. And for the record i think she was seen with a 18 year old at a hotel after the shooting when she was on the run. This lady is purely not class and should be prosecuted.
I think eric got away with murder. But you dont mess with a mans wife and tell him your kids will be calling me daddy then go on his property and ask his wife to get in the car. What a stupid kid.
I think the natural mother is the one to blame. She obviously knew what was going on all along. She should have acted like the mother who sincerely wanted to have a healthy relationship with her son. Isn’t it ironic. She gave up for adoption when he was a child for his well-being, only to contribute to his death as soon as he became a man
The Kid didnt diserve to die at that age, but he is partially to blame here just as much as the Teacher. Either way, there should be tougher laws not only should teachers should be arrested but the student should be as well because it takes two, Rape is unwilling, and Sagitory rape is with kids who are below age of 16 or younger which some cases the kid doesnt understand the meaning of right or wrong. Most people always blame the teachers which the student should be prosicuted as well but who ever makes up thease laws are obvious retards who think they know everything when they know shit. Anyone who dissagrees with me, so be it. Everyone has there own oppinion, but honestly I cant stand seeing all thease student and teacher affairs, relationships BS. and the teacher always is to blame. Not all cases are like that, there are many cases wear the teacher gets the blames but but some teacher student relationship is where the teacher is the victim but no matter what, the teacher is always to blame. Like in most cases there are always two sides to the storeys, So the Prosicuters need to go back to school or find a new career because the idiots who make up some of these bullshit laws need to rewright them. But that will never happen because of how cocky and Egotistic the so called assholes are. So whoever disagrees with me, so be it. But all I know is that not always teachers are to blame. And the Student being 18 and old enough to know right from wrong, he is to blame as much as the teacher even though he didnt diserve to be murdered. Thats all I have to say.
