With their home gone they are at the mercy of land lords who can raise rents at their own whim. In the case of many, they took out a loan to repair the old place or to put the kids thru college so that they would not have to rely on low working class wages in their own lives;to be able to see the next generation possibly succeed. Then they ran up against the most dangerous kind of thief;the mortgage broker/loan officer/subprimelender/mortgage fraud perpetrator and now their whole life is turned upside down...just because corporate greed got the better of them.
