Bangladesh’s  major politcal party leaders are going to go into exile according to reports published in a Dhaka newspaper quoting reliable sources. Bangladesh Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina has already obtained a US visa to visit his son in Washington DC on a scheduled one month tour but sources say that she may not come back for a long time as she is under investigation for corruption and the present caretaker government would rather have her live in exile.

Bangladesh Nationalist party leader Khaleda Zia has unwillingly agreed to go on exile in Saudi Arabia according to the same sources. Her son Tarique Rahman has recently been arrested and sent to prison for massive corruption, money laundering and tax evasion charges pending further investigation.

Former President Ershad, who also faces smuggling and other corruption cases, has agreed to go on exile according to the same sources quoted in the newspaper - Amader Shomoy.

Bangladesh is currently going  through an anti-corruption drive since the present army-backed interim government led by Dr. Fakhruddin took office.
