My name is Tijan Nimaga and Iam a Freelance writer.I sometimes contribute to The Gambia Eco online newspaper. However, the reason why Iam writing this personal opinion of mine is simply base on the fact that it seems that there is no one in The Gambia to help our compatriot Fatou Jaw Manneh a U.S based Gambian journalist currently facing trial in The Gambia.Fatou is being proscuted just for something that if it was here in the U.S would have been just nothing at all.It is her constitutional rights to speak what she feels about her country and the way it is govern.Transfering her case to Banjul is a bomshell on deaf ears
since the case could to be terminated at the Kanifing magistrate court a courtroom which has now become a kind of concentration camp for journalist, odinary citizens with politicial
ambitions and members of the former president's government. The entire judiciary is in favour of the government that is why Fatou's case is still a mystery. Can every Gambian come together an help Fatou Jaw Manneh so that she can have a fair trial which must end soon without delay. It has been months since all this human rights abuse began in her case. She has to be given her god given rights as a citizen and above all a journalist.Any government that does not want the press or the media in general is not a democratic outfit. So let president Jammeh realese Fatou Jaw Manneh now.
