Yoyo

I haven't been back here in a long time.
I wonder who you really are and what could possibly have bred such hatred inside a person.
I have lived in Asia for 20 years of my life. I speak two Asian Languages and my daughter is half Asian and I have a have a certificate in East Asian Studies. I act as an advisor on China for dozens of groups.
I donate my time as a volunteer and board member for the Sichuan disaster relief shelter foundation and other groups.
I love China and the people I have met here.
I don't know the person you wrote about and pray I never will.
I hope your world view clears in the future.

Best

I can’t believe you write so much drival! I scanned through most of your articles and all I can say is, “You have NO CLUE” about China. I lived there for five years (2001 to 2006) and nearly everything you write is from such a biased view point of what I would call “Idiotexpatitis”. I am quite certain that you:
1.have never eaten at an average Chinese restaurant (the ones where CHinese eat, NOT laowai)
2.have never socialized with “real” Chinese (not just the ones with college degrees)
3. never bothered to learn much more than how to say “yes, no, where is the toilet” in Mandarin
4.know what “guanxi” is or how to go about developing it
5. have ever been into a real, average Chinese person’s home
6. find standing in close proximity to a group of average Chinese people a horrible experience
7. think that eating at the Banana Leaf is truly an authentic “Asian” experience
8. feel demeaned when you have to use a Chinese squat toilet
9. look dumbfounded when a well mannered Chinese asks you “mei guanxi” and then they mutter “ben dan” as they walk away
10. can’t understand why so many Chinese laugh at you, smiling all the while when you are in their presence
