To say that Wal Mart aids the poor is a misconception and little more than an advertising facade. I work there and as a (capped) level one associate I cannot afford to shop with Wal Mart. They would have you believe that by simply shopping at their stores you can save time and money. However, the quality of their merchandise is poor and wears out quickly and needs to be repurchased. Since it's so "cheap" people come running back for more which does little more than feed the Wal Mart fire. I have found that I save a great deal of money on my laundry needs and personal hygiene products at dollar stores. I go to second hand stores for my clothing where I am able to find beautiful clothing for only a few dollars. I find much better bargains and higher quality food elsewhere as well. People believe they're saving time and money, but calculate the length of time you wait in line the next time you go there and total that up per month and see how many hours it comes out to. I use that time to go to other stores where I truly DO save money, have a pleasant shopping experience and am greeted by happy, knowledgeable employees.
