- jumped out at me a bit..."Islamist" instead of Muslim.
The "ist" part...as in "Communist." (perhaps after all the replacement for Pentagon-directed required enemy.

In the real world of cause and effect, opposing forces often mirror each other.
Why then should it not be that fundamentalists of all stripes do so too?

Fundamentalists never spoke for the majority anywhere - although they like to think they do.

Dear Warner Todd Huston:
You are somewhat inaccurate on some counts and wrong on others. Mr. Hedges is not at all alone in his realizations concerning this radical movement. There are those of us who have monitored it's formation far decades now. You are also inaccurate as to you broad assumptions about his motivations. You propose “He is, after all, selling a book. Perhaps he doesn’t believe a word he is saying about all this “Christian fascist” stuff?" I am certain this is inserted only to try and mute the message and it's not working. Now you are full wrong and fully unqualified to access Mr. Hedges stability and mental veracity. We can dismiss your “diagnoses” as hubristic. You are also wrong, and are probably striving to be, about what he is warning about. You say “Jesus is Hedges’ boogyman” (sp.) and “…his demon appears in the form of Christianity.”. These statements are wrong and naïve. He has NOT set himself against Jesus and he is not warning against Christianity. He is sounding alarms about a movement that claims to be “Christianity” and is in fact anything but. The religion is Dominionism and it only uses a christian format, believable only to those ignorant of the scriptures, to lend it legitimacy. Its tenets are diametrically opposite to the teachings of Jesus Christ of the bible. Did you miss the warning of Jesus that there would be false prophets and “christs” running around all over the place? You need to read his material again and this time, take off the stained-glasses. You expected to read what you decided he was going to say, NOT what he actually has said. Recalling Jesus trial before his death, he responded to accusations like the ones you are making by saying “You said that, not me.”

[...] Whatever one thinks about Chris Hedges, (and he is getting his share of flack) he is in good company. Top journalists in the US have made their case about the US religious right: Fredrick Clarkson, Michelle Goldberg, Bill Moyers, Mel White… McVety is correct though. Hedges flown into Toronto like it is a US audience and then not being prepped for a debate makes him look silly and easy to brush away. [...]
