To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Banned Books Week, the American Library Association had readers report their favorite banned book.  The number one choice for all three age groups (preteen, teen, and adult) was books from the Harry Potter series.  What?  The Harry Potter series has been banned?  Why?  And by whom?  The satirical tabloid, “The Onion,” published an article that claimed since 1995, the Wicca religion practiced in the Potter series has been the main contributor in the remarkable rise of Satanic worship among children.  Allegedly, youthful participants of the religion have increased from 100,000 in ’95 to 14 million in ’06.  Several soccer moms, teachers, and clergy members back the allegations.
