[A Columbia political science grad student and a graphic designer have combined efforts to display in today’s NY Times the categories of killed in Iraq — some 1,900+ — this January just passed.  The first website below is the chart indicating by categories — various military, civilians — killed each day of the month.  These categories are at the base of the chart which takes a minute or so to display by line computer.  Perhaps it takes graphics to make such things real?  CNN also reports this morning that all 4 U.S. helicopters lost during this period were shot down by enemy fire.  Ed Kent]
