<description>Ouch, you certainly got my wife’s attention. So much so, that I feel compelled to leave a comment.

Your assertion is that there are no true Americans, well there are no true Jamaicans, or Chinese, or any where else. We all started off from a tribe somewhere in Africa.

The popular version of belonging to a country is that you are born in that country. The Brits and others that took the big step of finding freedom in a new land in the 1700's were pioneers. Many Americans can trace their families back to those days. Generations later, these are proud Americans, they are people that have a rich heritage, and a rich background.

Yes what the Brits did to the native American and Canadian populations was awful, I sincerely hope that we have learned something as a result.

Lazy Americans? Yes there are some, but there are lazy people everywhere. Jamaica is world famous for the 'I'll get to it later syndrome', yet we do not criticize Jamaica, we embrace it. Most Americans are very industrious and hard working. Having spent over 10 years living in the US I can attest to that fact.

The immigration thing is a hassle, unfortunately we have outside influences that caused the changes. I currently live in Canada but plan on relocating to the US soon. I have lived in and visited a number of countries in my 51 years, and I like the US. I am married to an American, and she is proud to be American, and I am proud to be by her side!

My advice is that if you do not like the immigration policy, don’t go! The last time I checked, it was not compulsory!
