The American Government should first do a survey on how many “Americans” would actually be willing to do the HARD WORK that many “illegal” members of their population are willing to do and I am sure the feedback would be negative! By increasing the fees to apply for Green Card or Citizenship, the US Gov’t has only fueled the hardworking side of the persons who require this status, they will work as hard as they have to and they will get it so face it and deal with it.

America was not bulit by Ameircans, actually there is no such thing as a true Amercian, America was built by immigrants of Europe, especially Britain. The so called Americans must remeber that they uprooted the Native Americans so they are now paranoid that the imigrants will do the same to them. However, the pie is big enough for all.

Also, in terms of persons who have their visas and when they come to the airports in the US the immigration gives them so much of a hard time they need to be informed that not everyone who visits wishes to live there. I visit there and I have no wish to live there, I cannot live on the edge and that is exactly what America has been living on since 9/11, everyone is papranoid.

Your assertion is that there are no true Americans, well there are no true Jamaicans, or Chinese, or any where else. We all started off from a tribe somewhere in Africa.
The popular version of belonging to a country is that you are born in that country. The Brits and others that took the big step of finding freedom in a new land in the 1700′s were pioneers. Many Americans can trace their families back to those days. Generations later, these are proud Americans, they are people that have a rich heritage, and a rich background.
Yes what the Brits did to the native American and Canadian populations was awful, I sincerely hope that we have learned something as a result.
Lazy Americans? Yes there are some, but there are lazy people everywhere. Jamaica is world famous for the ‘I’ll get to it later syndrome’, yet we do not criticize Jamaica, we embrace it. Most Americans are very industrious and hard working. Having spent over 10 years living in the US I can attest to that fact.
The immigration thing is a hassle, unfortunately we have outside influences that caused the changes. I currently live in Canada but plan on relocating to the US soon. I have lived in and visited a number of countries in my 51 years, and I like the US. I am married to an American, and she is proud to be American, and I am proud to be by her side!
My advice is that if you do not like the immigration policy, don’t go! The last time I checked, it was not compulsory!
