The Government does not have enough resources allocated for immigration and border enforcement. These two organizations have to be self sufficient by raising funds. The INS achieve this by raising fees, ICE on the other hand can impose huge penalties on employers who employ illegal immigrants.
They can fine banks which are providing loans to Illegals , big corporations who rent their apartments to Illegals, and employers who employ illegals. This way both INS and ICE can raise funds. INS or USCIS can provide good management of Immigrant system and ICE can enforce, fine and deport illegal immigrants.
It is not necessary to find a solution through new laws. The existing laws. if implemented correctly can bring excellent results. The Lobbyists and Lawmakers are just wasting their time trying to impose new legislation.
There will always be illegal immigration. Amnesty will pave way for yet more illegals. It will send a strong signal that US government can not do anything as it has provided amnesty to existing illegals, and they would hope that new illegals will get amnesty down the line.
One solution might be to require a SSN and passport to open a bank account. Even they were able to get a fake SSN by stealing it, they would not be able to get a Passport.
The bottom line, make it hard for illegals to live in US.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe American Government should first do a survey on how many “Americans” would actually be willing to do the HARD WORK that many “illegal” members of their population are willing to do and I am sure the feedback would be negative! By increasing the fees to apply for Green Card or Citizenship, the US Gov’t has only fueled the hardworking side of the persons who require this status, they will work as hard as they have to and they will get it so face it and deal with it.
America was not bulit by Ameircans, actually there is no such thing as a true Amercian, America was built by immigrants of Europe, especially Britain. The so called Americans must remeber that they uprooted the Native Americans so they are now paranoid that the imigrants will do the same to them. However, the pie is big enough for all.
Also, in terms of persons who have their visas and when they come to the airports in the US the immigration gives them so much of a hard time they need to be informed that not everyone who visits wishes to live there. I visit there and I have no wish to live there, I cannot live on the edge and that is exactly what America has been living on since 9/11, everyone is papranoid.

Kaylan’s “Illegal immigration” post is in error. The INS no longer exists; it was replaced by ICE nearly five years ago.
It is true that illegal immigration can be dramatically reduced by simply enforcing existing laws, which means coming down hard on employers who hire these lawbreakers. This is called Attrition Through Enforcement,” and it works. In those areas of the country where raids have taken place or where ordinances against landlords and employers who profit from illegal immigration have been passed, we have seen large numbers of illegals voluntarily leaving those communities or even the country.
