The most absurd story of the day was the panic caused in Boston by the sudden appearance of suspicious packages all over the city. LINK.LINK2.
Was it a major terrorist attack? Dirty Bombs? Anthrax? Stinkbombs?

The answer is none of the above. The packages were placed there as a publicity stunt to promote Cartoon Network’s show Aqua Teen Hunger Force, whose characters include Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad.

The Powerpuff Girls deny they were involved in the prank.

“We can only save the world before bedtime”, explained Blossom, who pointed out the first package was found at 8 am.

Bugs Bunny also denied involvement, and when asked about the perpetrators, and commented: “Whatta maroon! Whatta ignoranimus!”

The good news in all of this is that Boston’s intrepid police responded promptly to the perceived threat, closing a major interstate and some bridges before the hoax was revealed.

The bad news is that similar boxes had been in place around New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Austin, San Francisco and Philadelphia for several weeks without anyone noticing them or raising an alarm.
